Feature Adoption

Feature Adoption refers to the successful integration of a product's capabilities into a customer's standard workflows. It is the "Sticky Factor" that prevents churn—because a customer who only uses 10% of a tool won't see the value, but one who has adopted 80% (including integrations) will find it impossible to leave. Adoption is the primary driver of "Deep ROI."

Feature Breadth vs. Feature Depth: The difference?

Breadth: How many features do they use? Depth: How often do they use the "Important" ones? If 100% of users use "Message," you have breadth. If they send 50 messages a day, you have depth. Depth is a stronger predictor of renewal than breadth.

What are "Expansion Hooks" in Feature Adoption?

Design features that "pull" the user further in. E.g., Once a user creates 10 reports, show them the "Automated Dashboard" feature. This "Progressive Disclosure" ensures they keep finding new value without being overwhelmed at the start.

What to do with low-adoption features?

Adoption data is the "Trash Can" for product ideas. If a feature has < 2% adoption after a year, it adds "UX Debt" and "Support Noise." Product Ops should use this data to decide whether to "Redesign it" or "Sunset it" to keep the core product lean and powerful.
